Spring Term

Spring Term sucked. We never saw each other, I worked 7-3, went to class and when I got home I had homework, then a short 2 hours later (during which time dinner had to be made, dishes washed, laundry done) James would go to work. It was hard, I knew it was going to be hard but not this hard. But it is over! James took two finals today, and feels really confident in his final grades! I took my MFG 201 final today, that class was by far the worst class I have ever taken at BYU. It was interesting, but way too much reading for Spring Term, plus a midterm or test every two weeks killed me. My bookbinding final is tomorrow night, and I love my final project. I plan on replicating it for a wedding album.

Work has been great, I was given the opportunity to go to an excel class a few weeks ago and have fallen in love with excel. It always shocks me how much excel is capable of. I feel like I still haven't found my niche again at work, but am slowly getting there. Being an analyst is different than what I was doing last time, but its a great difference. I love my job, and have started to see how what I am doing at work is actually making a difference.

James and I went to the Temple for the first time since we have been married with Allison and Jeff (my freshman roommate and her husband). It was amazing to be there again, and I felt like I took more away this time. We plan to go back again this weekend, hopefully up to Salt Lake.

James' sister Jill and cousin KT are in Ecuador working in orphanages for service. They have been there the last month and they are coming home super soon. It is exciting to read Jill's email and to look at pictures. I can tell Jill and Katie are having an amazing experience and I can't wait to hear stories and see more pictures.

I promise to upload pictures of our apartment soon, I still feel like our apartment isn't home. I think I need to hang up more pictures and decorate a bit. Cinder blocks make it hard, but we will get there.

14 days till we leave for Kentucky and Virginia. I am more than excited.

Photos

The best feeling in the entire world is waking up next to your husband and realizing he is your forever. Every single day when I wake up I just can't believe we made it through everything. Obviously I am one very lucky girl.

I finally received my wedding pictures in the mail from all events and can I just say I LOVE THEM. Without a doubt I made the best choices when it comes to photographers.

Just a taste

Now for James and I? Well we are still in school, and both have our last classes for the term on Monday. Which would be super exciting for me, except I get to do it all over again Summer Term. James on the other hand is taking a break before diving head first into Fall Semester. I'm taking four class summer, two of them are online, which will be nice. Then my last General Ed class ever, at this point I feel like some sort of GE Finishing Party may be needed. I mentioned earlier I was taking a bookbinding class, and I can honestly say it is an amazing class. I will miss it next term, mostly because it was relaxing.

Lately I have been getting home sick, and I can't explain why. James and I talked about it yesterday, and I think its because Kentucky is where I grew up. It is all I have ever really known, and I have never really moved from Georgetown. I am now living in a new state, married, and starting my own life. Its new but exciting. Not to mention in a short 3ish weeks James and I get to go to Kentucky to see family, then to Virginia to spend a couple days with the Forsgren family, all of them. We are looking forward to the vacation and some quality time with family.

Marriage

So James and I got married on April 7th, 2011, over a month ago! It was exactly what I had imagined and everything I could have hoped for.

He looked stunning in his suit and I was told I looked fantabulous in my dress

Interesting story:

James had one document to remember to bring from Kentucky, I had his birth certificate and a bunch of other documents. On day one of driving from Kentucky to Utah I get a call from James and he lets me know he left his Temple Recommend and Living Ordinance Recommend in Kentucky. I am not one known for being calm in pretty much any situation. I began freaking out and of course James kept telling me to remain calm. Finally after numerous phone calls, one to a member of the Stake Presidency asking them to break into his parents house it was all figured out. PS I did eventually calm down.

Our wedding day was fantastic, it wasn't terribly cold and the rain held off while we took pictures.I will never forget sitting next to James in the Temple and looking into his eyes as we were sealed for time and all eternity. Definitly the best day and best decision of my life. James and I were terribly late to our luncheon due to millions of pictures! but I am extremely grateful for them. Emily is the best freaking cook ever. Everyone kept complimenting on it. James and I ran to the hotel and checked in before heading back down to Highland for our open house. It was packed to say the least, and I couldnt have ever imagined the number of people who came to it. James and I are very fortunate to have so many people who love us.

James and I were exhausted but we had two days of rest and relaxation before our 8 day 7 night cruise to the Carribbean, I will write another post about this later...ie when it is not 10 at night :)

James and I headed back to Kentucky with a long wait at the airport in Fort Lauderdale (we played many a game of rummy). Finally we arrived home where we, well I spent the next two days helping finish final touches on our reception in Kentucky. Jocelyn (James Aunt), Jimette (James Aunt), Jennie (James Mom), and my mom spent so much time throwing things together. Making food and just making everything perfect for James and I. The reception in Kentucky was perfect, I seriously can not think of one thing I would have changed. We had an hour to decorate it and it was done within 40ish minutes with all the help. The cake was stunning and tasted fantastic. Yet again I was astounded by the support and love James and I recieved.

Moving across country was fun, and a different experience. I hated driving, and as a last minute decision James and I decided to do the move in a moving van in two days. James did most the driving. I have sworn never to move again, since it took 3 boys and two girls an hour to unload our moving van. James and I have been unpacking slowly, and the only thing that remains is a few boxes that are at Paul and Rachels house in Provo for us to pick up.

Our ward is great, I absolutely love it. We have gone a total of one time since being married but it is way nice to be 2 minutes from our ward. Our bishop actually lived in Lexington a few years ago, so as James says we are on the good list since we have the Kentucky connection. The ward is super small due to Spring and Summer, but I feel like I will get to know a lot of people extremly easily.

I work 7.5 hours a day and have class for 4 hours on Tuesday and Thursday and 2.5 hours on Monday and Wednesday. Mostly I am never home and with James' schedule being the exact opposite of mine we rarely see each other. It sucks, but we are making it work. I think enjoying your job helps me, plus I am taking a stress free class Bookbinding and am learning some of the coolest things I have ever learned.

Wish us luck this semester, and as James tells me help me remain calm.

Love
Mrs. Jenkins

April 7th

For proprieties sake I guess I better write down everything about our Wedding Day.

We were staying at Penny and Don's house in Highland, Utah. The night before I kept tossing and turning in bed, and my mom kept telling me to sleep. I kept telling her I was not going to be able to sleep. Finally 330 am rolled around and I got up and took a long hot shower. I brushed my teeth and got dressed. I then called Crystal who I had made an appointment with to do my hair at the house in Highland. Crystal finally arrived and we snuck down the stairs and she started doing my hair. My mom talked to the two of us, and Crystal finished my hair and makeup. She asked to check and make sure it was how I wanted it and I looked in the mirror and felt like it was perfect. I finished getting ready, and helped Mom and John finish getting ready and we headed out the door after a quick breakfast.

As soon as we were like 15 minutes away from the house I realized I left my jewelry in the bedroom and I absolutely needed jewelry. We turned around and I ran in and grabbed the jewelry, then we were on our way. I called Jennie and James on the way to make sure that they were up and on their way. They were and John, Mom and I arrive at the Temple and find the parking below the Conference Center. We grab my dress and temple bag from the car and started walking toward the Temple. We get in the elevator and everybody around us started telling me congratulations and how excited I must be. Finally we cross the street toward the Temple and work our way to the Temple entrance.

As soon as we walk into the double doors I start crying and give my brother and mom a hug. I kept telling my mom that I was sorry, and she kept telling me it was fine. I needed to go. It was going to be ok, and she was going to be fine. It was the hardest moment of the day, I knew I was making the right decision and my mom let me go. As soon as I let go of my mom I saw James and he had the hugest smile on his face.  Then I saw Amanda Johnson was waiting for me. She gave me a hug and helped me check my wedding dress. James and I checked in and were taken to a processing area where we got a name tag for each of us to wear with all of our information. I met my two escorts and Jennie and Amanda went with me to get ready. I got dressed and then was taken to meet James, the two of us went to the Celestial Room at the Temple and waited to be called to go to our sealing. We were picked up and the two of us where brought to the sealing room where we were sealed for time and all eternity. It was great having so many people who loved both of us and supported both of us.

After the sealing we went back to get changed and head out to take pictures. As soon as I was done I got my bouquet and hurried out with the escorts. One of the escorts told me to wait here and she would be right back, she turned the corner to make sure James was there. I was so impatient I wanted to see him! She came back and said yes, I rounded the corner and James' face was perfect. This was one of my favorite moments from the day. We walked out of the Temple and were greeted by all of our friends and family. It was fantastic to have hugs and love from so many people. We spent ages taking pictures, which I am eternally grateful for. I love them! Most people left, and we continued to take pictures. Finally everybody but Amanda Johnson left as our photographer finished taking photographs. We hurried into the Temple to change into Sunday clothes and left. On the way out I realized I forgot my coat and just told them to forget it, it wasn't very expensive. I was famished, and just wanted to spend time with James. Amanda Johnson ran back in and got my coat. We finally found my car ( I had forgotten which level I had parked it on, and looked on almost all the levels for it) and headed for the luncheon.

We arrived at the luncheon late, whoops! When we arrived I realized I was feeling a little bit more under the weather than I had previously let on and my voice was starting to get shaky. We were introduced to everybody and chowed down on some fantastic food made by James' fantastic aunt Emily. We spoke with people and eventually left to check into the hotel. We checked in and then headed back down to Highland for the reception that night. When we arrived we had to change back into our wedding garb. I was so anxious, and as I looked at James' Aunt and Uncle's beautiful home I was amazed at the beautiful decorations and time everybody had put into this for us. People started arriving and we formed a welcoming line in the foyer. So many people came, way more than I had ever imagined. Friends from college, our old Bishop from Georgetown (who had tried to make it for the sealing but was delayed due to flights!), and coworkers. Finally we decided to cut the cake and before we cut the cake I told James remember green cake white dress. That did not keep him from being mean. He didn't push it too hard and only a bit of cake remained on my face. We threw the bouquet and the garter. I was told not to throw to high as it would hit the chandelier. I did anyway. For the garter I had two, a toss garter and one I wanted to keep. I put one on but told James to toss one and I handed it to him. His mom and aunts laughed and said, you are supposed to wear that. I said I know, I wanted to keep one :). Shortly after mingling a bit we decided to leave and changed into street clothes. I gave my family and new family a hug and James and I headed toward the hotel. (We stopped at a grocery store on the way, we were still famished!) And don't worry about me being sick...I was sick (voice lost and all) during our cruise!

The Future

James and I have 18 days till we get married.

In 18 short days we have so much to do, and that fact alone is very daunting and scary. Yet extremely exciting. I can't even begin to describe all the emotions I am feeling right now and yet one word describes it all bliss.

Pure and utter bliss.
